On January 24, representatives of Aetna issued a statement of cooperation with IBM to create a joint blockchain platform for health insurance, optimizing the processing of insurance claims and payments.

According to analytical data, Aetna serves more than 39 million customers in the United States and worldwide. The development of a new blockchain platform shall facilitate the management of catalogues of insurance policies, as well as accelerate the transfer of information about health insurance in case of accidents.

According to representatives of Aetna, a joint project with IBM will help not only reduce medical expenses, but also make the process of transferring insurance data "faster and more transparent".
