Taiwan: $ 8 million crypto-fraud

Police in New Taipei, Taiwan, arrested fifteen suspects for $ 8 million worth of cryptocurrency fraud, – according to local media (Focus edition on January 26th).

According to the article, the head of the Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB), Li Chi-Hsun, said at a press conference that fifteen suspects – including the alleged leader named Lin – were arrested during two separate raids conducted on January 9 , and the 17th of January.

The arrested suspects were reportedly charged with fraud, and the case was transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office. The group deceived more than 30 people in the country for about $ 250 million New Zealand dollars (equivalent to about $ 8.16 million).
