The research department of the Sony Japanese technology giant announced the creation of a contactless local wallet for storing crypto-coins, the company said in a press release on Tuesday, October 23.

The device, which is not yet named, uses IC smart-card technology to communicate with a BTC or another cryptocurrency network. The advantages of the wallet, according to researchers from Sony Computer Science Labs (SCSL), are that you do not need to attach the wallet to the host device via USB.

“In addition, it is possible to reliably generate and store a private key with a very secure unauthorized access module in an IC-card” – Sony Computer Science Labs (SCSL) release.

technology in recent years. The corporation has released several applications for the crypto-sphere. Patching them as closely related to hardware locking.

The corporation claims that in addition to sending and receiving cryptocurrencies, the latest application of the hardware wallet is intended for multiple uses.

“This hardware wallet encryption technology using an IC-card not only controls the private keys used for cryptocurrency transactions, but also controls the private keys used for other purposes. For example, for permissions to use personal information using blockchain technology. This is a crypto-infrastructure that will help solve several problems at the same time.” – Sony Computer Science Labs (SCSL).

It is not known yet when mass distribution of the product is planned.
